Tooth Fairy Day!

sticky comics
Happy tooth fairy day!  Did you know there was a tooth fairy museum in Illinois?  (Neither did I, until a few minutes ago.)  When I was little I had a little tooth fairy pillow thing that I would put my tooth in when I fell asleep.  I remember falling asleep holding onto it, just hoping that the tooth fairy would wake me up when she came to exchange my tooth for some money!  Never met her, though... haha!  Here are some cute tooth fairy pillows/kits I found on Etsy:

Polar Bear Day!

  • The babies are much smaller than human babies when they're born.  They are the size of a rat and weigh little more than a pound.  They can grow to full man size in a year if they have lots of food.
  •  Male polar bears may grow 10 feet tall and weigh over 1400 pounds.  Females reach seven feet and weigh 650 pounds.  In the wild polar bears live up to age 25.

  • Despite what we think, a polar bear's fur is not white.  Each hair is clear hollow tube.  Polar bears look white because each hollow hair reflects the light. On sunny days, it traps the sun's infrared heat and keeps the bear warm at 98 degrees F (when they're resting).
  •  Polar bear fur is oily and water repellent. The hairs don't mat when wet, allowing the polar bears to easily shake free of water and any ice that may form after swimming.

Tell a Fairy Tale Day!

Today is tell a Fairy Tale Day, so naturally I asked Megan to help me out!  If you aren't following her blog, make sure you go there right away & follow!  She's amazing.  Here is the story she wrote for me:
Once upon a time I was a normal girl.
Well, about as normal as any girl could be after being abducted in the middle of the night by trolls.
Yes. Trolls. Big ugly ones with crooked and blackened teeth and a smell so repulsive it could peel wallpaper.
They took me to another world. Through a mirror. Yes, it seems like a Alice in Wonderland type tale, but I assure you it is not.
There was no white rabbit and no singing door mouse. There was not even any treats.
Just a filthy dungeon where I was placed for the better part of a week.
I don't remember much about my time there, but I do remember the window. It was tiny, but even so I could see part of this magical place and it was beautiful!!!
Lush green fields as far as the eye could see. Enchanting flowers scattered everywhere. Huge blue trees that had the oddest pink birds in it.
Okay, so, not a normal world, but it had it's own unique beauty.
And if I was not trapped in a dungeon I am sure I would really be able to appreciate it's beauty!!
Suddenly, a vile old woman was standing at the bars telling me to give her the amulet.
That I had no right to take it from her and that if I didn't hand it over to her something bad would happen.
Something to do with boiling oil, pain and death.
Sadly I have no clue what this amulet is.
After what seems like hours of her screaming at me, she gets frustrated at my lack of answers; turns and hobbles back up the stairs.
After trying to fit through the minuscule window, with no success I try rattling the bars.
Again, with no success of opening them.
By this point I was discouraged, tired and hungry.
So when a little fairy flew in and landed on one of the bars, my hopes began to rise.
I mean, fairies are supposed to help and do good right?
This little fairy was no more than 4 inches high and had the prettiest crown of golden hair I have ever seen.
She asked if I was in need of help, when I told her I am in here against my will, that the evil old woman was going to kill me over an amulet!!
The little fairy said that, that is awful!! She will help me escape.
With a twitch of her wings she was hovering near the bard then with a flick of her wrist fairy dust settled over the bars causing them to open.
Gotta love magic!!
She told me to take the hall all the way down till you reach a big brown door. That will lead me out to the garden outside the castle walls.
She told me to travel West and when I come to a brook that will lead me to a cottage that houses the mirror needed to take me home.
So down the hall I went and through the door I walked and I breathed in the fresh air and heard the odd pink birds singing.
I think they were singing Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.
So West I traveled and I could just about hear a brook when suddenly I was snatched up heafted high up onto a white horse.
With a very handsome fellow riding on it.
He was just about to say something when the pink bird started beeping.
A loud obnoxious beeping. That just kept going and going and going.
I turned back to aks Mr. Handsome what was going on........

.......And then I was awake.
Sitting up in my lovely pink bed surrounded by my cream walls with Taylor, my cat staring up at me.
What a peculiar dream.
No more reading The Brothers Grimm before bed for me!!!
Isn't she the greatest?  Haha.  So, go check out her blog already!!

Chocolate Covered Peanuts Day!

...interesting photo but I didn't have anything better.  I'm not going to lie I like chocolate covered raisins a whole lot better than chocolate covered peanuts.  Or chocolate covered pretzels.  I prefer honey roasted peanuts instead of chocolate covered peanuts... but Keith likes them.  I should buy him a package of them to eat today...

One man has helped save the lives of over 2 million babies*

I have been wanting to do weekly features on my blog since, well, since I started it up in July (doesn't it feel like I've been blogging for longer?  So weird to think it hasn't even been a year yet!).  I kind of started doing a weekly feature, but I think it only lasted about two weeks.  Haha.  But I think it's finally time to start it up & stick to it!  For now I'll just start with one day of the week, and then if I like it (and if you guys like it!) I'll add some more.  Anyways, on Fridays I'll be featuring different artists that I find!  For now I guess we will call it Friday Artists?  Haha.  I will come up with a better title!!  I promise.  Okay, enough rambling... ha.  The first artist I picked is Liz Wolfe.  I found her work a couple of years ago and I just love her style.  I've never seen anything like it.

Chili & Tortilla Chip Day!

Definitely my favourite way to eat chili!  Yum!  Today I didn't make any chili (I know, I know...) we bbq-ed instead... hah.  But every time I make chili, the only way I eat it is with tortilla chips & a piece of crusty bread!  Yum.

A 15-story hotel was built in China in 6 days

Last night all of the girls in De's wedding party got together and went out for dinner!  It was so much fun, I got to meet two of the girls that I didn't know & everyone had such a blast.  They are going to have SUCH a fun wedding, I can't wait!  (They're getting married on September 2nd!)  We started talking about the Buck & Doe (I'm not sure if that's just a Canadian thing to call it that?) and the bridal shower.  And we talked about dresses and accessories.  De is getting some custom earrings made for all of us.  Her theme is going to be peacocks!  It's going to be amazing.  She has been ordering a bunch of things from Etsy, I'm so excited to see everything once they start coming in!  (TIM, I'm not sure if you are reading this or if De is trying to keep this a secret from you or what... but STOP READING, just in case!!  Haha.)
De is getting a custom pair of these earrings made for her, in all white!

And the bridesmaids are going to be wearing these earrings, except I think they will have more greens, purples and blues in them:

She has bought a ton of feathers to decorate the entire place!  I'm so excited.  Especially to start making things to decorate!  I have been looking at SO many wedding blogs and sending her the longest messages with so many links, haha.  And I've been all over pinterest(Add me on there if you have it!  Or let me know if you need an invite!)

Are there any blogs/links I should check out for tips on Bridal Showers or Buck & Does?  Or do you have any suggestions for things to do?  Let me know!!  I love checking out new blogs for ideas!  Any games we should play?

Tennis Day!

Today is Tennis Day & Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day!  I'm not sure who decided it was a good idea to celebrate Tennis Day in the middle of February (maybe someone in Australia created it?) but the only way I could possibly play tennis would be on the wii, ha!   I was able to celebrate Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day though!  & Squirt was SO happy.  I found a recipe for dog cookies (and they were SO easy to make).  I'll be posting the photos and recipe tomorrow.  So for now, here are some etsy finds - tennis style!

Walk Your Dog Day - Margarita Day!

Made by the extremely talented Angelique!
Keith & I took Squirt for a walk today to celebrate Walk Your Dog Day!  It was pretty cold out, so I was mean (haha) and made her wear that sweater.  It kept her so warm though, and she had a blast!  Here are some more photos:
Hahahah this photo is great, I zoomed in on it because she's in the air.
Hahaha her eyes look so funny.
Warming her little paws up!
Best friends!

And today is also Margarita Day!  So, he is a terrible blurry photo of the margarita I had tonight, haha.
And a photo of the orchids Keith got me!
I counted how many buds there were (ahaha yes, I am a loser.  But there were a lot & I was curious!) and there are 56!  Whoaaaaa, haha.
