The Day the Music Died

Made by Mandipidy.
On this day in 1959 the plane carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and  The Big Bopper crashed and killed all the passengers.

(This song is now going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day, but that's okay.)

Today is also the Chinese New Year!  I'm going to direct you guys to Sandy a la Mode's post for more about that!  Tomorrow is Homemade Soup Day (And Wear Red Day!) and I kind of cheated and celebrated it a day early... I made roasted tomato & red pepper (and one yellow pepper!) soup and I made some chocolate cupcakes.  I'll post the photos from those tomorrow!  Keith is sitting next to me waiting (patiently) for me to get ready so we can go to De's... haha.  But be sure to check out Sandy's post about the Chinese New Year!

  1. we're all supposed to wear red to work tomorrow with jeans b/c of that holiday!! :) and thanks so much for linking to my post, sweetie!! :)

  2. I love Ritchie Vallens...the hubs and I danced to his song, "We Belong Together." At our wedding.

I also love Don McLean...he is simply amazing.
So many great musicians mentioned on here today!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. sad! this makes me think of the richie movie... xoxo jcd

  4. Mandy is so talented!!!!
and that song always makes me want to cry!!!
    Happy {Chinese} New Year darling!!!!!

  5. I hail from the land of buddy holly, so it's always sad to think about it. There is a museum here and a big statue of his glasses that's pretty rad! We celebrated Chinese new year by wearing red and going out for chinese! yummy! That soup sounds yummy too!

  6. I just think that is sooo odd they were on the same plane and all died! What a sad day!

  7. I still can't believe he was so young! I painted a buddy holly portrait yesterday and made a video about it :) I'll post that on Monday

  8. I love this song, sooo sad though!
