I have a problem. I'm addicted to starting blankets (for myself)*, and I never get around to finishing them. Take this one, for example. It's over 2 years old. It's so close to being finished, all there is left to do is sew in all of those ends. (Sewing in the ends is my least favourite part of knitting/crocheting. Well, that and my growing cyst on my wrist, ha. I usually get my Nana or Mom to sew in the ends for me, haha.) This weekend, I'm going to try and sew in the rest of those ends. I have a bunch of yarn left over from this blanket, so I think I might make a pillow or two, too. But, I'll save that for another day... haha. Hopefully by posting about this I'll hold myself accountable & actually do it!
*I'm so much better at making blankets for other people. I won't start another project until the blanket is done. But when it's for myself, I'll start a million other projects.
Looks great, dear! <3
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much!
DeleteOh, it's beautiful! I'm sure you'll finish it :) Good luck and lots of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Larisa! I think I'm going to sit with a cup of tea & finish it up this afternoon! (Hopefully finish it up! Haha.)
Deletefinishing is always the most tedious part! :) but it'll look great when it's finished!!
ReplyDeleteTotally! All of those ends! Ahhhhh! Luckily I discovered a new way (the Russian join!) to join ends. Unfortunately I didn't discover it until AFTER this blanket, haha!
DeleteIt,s so wonderful! I love the colours :)
ReplyDeleteHope, you,ll finish it soon!
Thanks Vera! Part of the fun of making new items is picking out all of the colours!
DeleteI love this blanket!!! You are so talented Holly!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan! So are youuuuuuuu!
Deletewhoa. i LOVE that.
ReplyDeleteWoo woo!! Thank ya! I'm tempted to add them to my Etsy shop... but I just feel like I would have to charge an arm & a leg & maybe a foot or hand because of all the time & work that goes into it... hum...
Deletepeople would pay though!!!
Deletei just love the colours so much too.
yikes.
woo looks pretty!! I'd never be able to do that, u do such a great job making it :D
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! I didn't think I was ever going to learn how to crochet (I tried on & off for a couple of years!), but sitting down with some yarn, a hook & a youtube video (for... a couple of hours) totally helped!
DeleteGo you! It looks great. I started a scarf a year ago and still haven't been able to finish it.

I feel ya! Haha. My closet is full of so many half finished projects. A lot of the time I'll go through some things & just tear it out and use the yarn for something else... ha!
DeleteI love these blankets! I'd love to learn how to make them one day but I barely even have a basic understanding of knitting/crocheting!

Thanks so much!
DeleteYoutube videos are SO helpful! That's how I learned how to crochet! & I didn't think I was even going to be able to... ha! (I think if you know how to knit, learning crochet is hard... and vice versa. Once you get it though, you are hooked! No pun intended... ha!)
Yes! Blogging is actually great motivation for me to actually finish my projects - I want to share them with the world!
ReplyDeleteTotally! I have a feeling there will be a lot more blog posts like this, sharing my half finished blankets (this one is the most complete out of them all, haha.) & hoping that I will hold myself accountable & FINISH THEM!
DeleteI love the colors in your blanket!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know just what you mean - I can be terrible about finishing projects...it's bad!
Hope you're having a lovely Saturday!
xo, Allie
Thanks, Allie! I'm awesome at finishing projects for other people, but for myself? It takes at least a year! Haha.
DeleteThis is lovely! And I know how it is to make things for myself... It often ends up in a lengthy and tedious task. But you did it!! (Maybe something you can tack of on one of your lists?)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Halina! This blanket would have probably spent another year in a basket waiting for me to finish it if I didn't make that list! Now, about the other unfinished blankets... ha!
DeleteOh the blanket is just adorable. I so so so wish I could crochet. Maybe that needs to be a goal for this year. I would love to be able to make something like this.
ReplyDeleteThank ya! I highly suggest checking out some youtube videos on how to crochet! They're SO helpful. I'm left handed so I was a bit scared that it would be even harder for me, but there are some great left handed videos out there, too! You should definitely try it out! If you need some suggestions for which videos to check out, let me know.
DeleteYou're so talented!! I reallyyyy want to learn how to knit & crochet but I'm having the hardest time getting my head around it. I may have to sign up for lessons haha!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Kait!
DeleteYeaaaaaah!! Learn how to knit & crochet!! Haha. I'll teach you! We should have a bunch of blog meet ups where we all teach each other our... trades? Ha!
Learning how to crochet was SO hard for me... it's just different than knitting & I could not figure it out. I gave up so many times, haha! But one night I sat down with some yarn, a hook & a youtube video and I FINALLY made a granny square. Then I made this blanket! So, you can do it!
You can do it Holly! You just bring that blanket to your next dream and I'll help you finish it up ;P
ReplyDeleteBahahaha okay, tonight? Say... 1am?!
DeleteOooh..it looks lovely!! :) I can totally related - I *hate* tying in all the ends...lol. I've been trying to do granny square by granny square, so I only have the connection threads to tie in, but it still sucks...good luck finishing yours up!
ReplyDeletehmzs i have the same problem, always starting something new haha. I'm also busy with a blanket right now :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented!! How beautiful is this.
