Adventures in Juicing!

Last week I started juicing and I'm LOVING it!  I went and stocked up on apples, oranges, grapes, pineapple, strawberries & pears.  So far I haven't juiced and veggies, but I plan to very soon.  I thought it would be fun to document all of the juices that I've made on the blog... and since I love the movie "Adventures in Babysitting"... I figured I would call it "Adventures in Juicing"!  Haha.  So I'm going to be sharing my recipes and thoughts on things I've juiced, plus some of the benefits that the various fruits & veggies give you.  Do any of you guys juice?  What are some of your favourite recipes?

This juice was just one pear and a couple handfuls of grapes.  Totally simple.  And pretty delicious.  As you can see it didn't make a whole lot, but it was enough for me.  (Also, forgive the bad photos... I made it pretty late at night, haha.)

Pears contain pectin, a soluble fiber, which helps the body to eliminate cholesterol and also protects against environmental toxins.  Pear juice has high levels of antioxidants, as well as glutathione, which will help guard against high blood pressure and stroke.  They are high in nutrients, containing vitamins A, B1 and 2, C, E, folic acid, niacin, copper, phosphorus and potassium.  Along with that, they are a great source of natural energy.

  1. Do you have a juicer or do you just use a blender? I'd love to buy a juicer but they can be pretty pricier and I'd be scared it'd be a passing fad for me and I'd use it constantly for a month then never again, lol.

    Those both look amazingly yummy!

  6. Juicing is awesome! I wish we did it more often. (Juicing, that is.) My husband has this old school Champion juicer that will never die. It is a pain in the fanny to put together and clean. That stops me quite often. I dream of a Breville. :) Green juice is the greatest. You should totally try that! My mouth is watering, btw.

  7. I make smoothies with just fruit and water in the blender but juicers intimidate me. I watched fat, sick and nearly dead the other day and it made me want to juice fast for a fortnight lol.
Pear and grape juice looks so yummy, I might try that in the blender!
