The List: Finishing Off Blankets! Part 3!

Remember the post I made about finishing up all of the blankets that I've started?  Well, most of the blankets are laying around overflowing a bag right now, but I did manage to get a bit more done on one of the blankets...
The blanket is long enough, but not wide enough at all... haha.  This is my first time ever making a blanket like this, and when I started I figured that it would be wide enough, only to find out that it wasn't.  But I didn't want to tear it back, so I kept going on.  Next time I'll add a few more rounds of the pattern and maybe a bigger hook since it's pretty time consuming.  I decided to add a border to make it a bit more wide (it's a big enough blanket for one person right now), and of course I ran out of the green yarn, ha.  I'm going to continue making the border bigger with the blue & white and I'm not sure how I'll finish it.  We'll see.  I like to work on this blanket when I'm laying in bed watching TV & I don't really do a lot of that, so this blanket has been neglected for a while.

It's funny, I work on different projects when I'm doing certain things.  Watching TV online at my computer?  I'll work on item for my shop or for myself.  Hanging out at a friend's house?  I'll throw some random yarn in my bag & work on the blankets for the SPCA.  Laying in bed watching TV?  I'll work on blankets for myself, haha.

Do you guys do that with certain projects?  Work on one thing in one room & something else in another?  Or is that just me... haha.  Anyway, let me know what you think of the pattern!  I'd love some feedback!  Also, do you think I should make some of these & sell them in the shop?  Maybe as baby blankets?  Or full sized blankets?  Lap blankets?  All three?  Haha.  Let me know!  Would you want a blanket like this?

  1. This is incredibly beautiful! I also draw when doing things in front of my computer and TV, but this seems so much more productive :)

  2. Yes yes yes, I want a blanket like this! Depending on shipping costs too I guess, but they're so pretty I'd save up. Alternatively could you make cushion covers? Adore that green/blue/white combo, you're so good! :-)

  6. I think that would make the cutest baby blanket! You could have all kinds of fun with color combos. But I might be biased right now and think all your blankets should be baby blankets, lol.

Um, I don't know if I do that different project/different room thing, but it makes perfect sense to me. If that makes sense.

  8. Was that blanket made using the Catherine's Wheel stitch?! It's so pretty...and I'm envious, because I've been wanting to try that stitch forever, but it seems so daunting, ha!

I've been working on a ripple afghan since January... Finishing an afghan is on my list this year, and hopefully I'll have it complete by December 1st. :]

  9. I am drooling over the green, aqua, and white blankie. Gorgeous. I start projects everywhere in the upstairs of our house. A shit show, that's what it is.

  10. I totally work on different projects depending on where I am. If I'm watching a movie, I hand sew. If I'm waiting at a doctors office or in the car, I'll draw sketches of different designs. If I'm listening to music, I drape. It's just the routines I've created. Glad I hear you do the same thing :)

  11. LOOOOOVE the colours of this! The stitch does look kind of time consuming.
I'm constantly working on stuff for my etsy shop/craft shows. I work on baby hats when I am at my charity knitting club. That's about all the variety I have in my knitting! I don't knit gifts for people, because 95% of the people I know wouldn't appreciate something hand made.

  12. Hi, Holly! I love all the blankets you've been finishing up, but this one is my favorite. I agree with the commenter above-- it looks like the catherine wheel stitch, but I'm not sure, so could you let me know, if you find time, what the pattern is? Even if it's catherine wheel, I've never seen them put together a little askew like you have them here, so I'm wondering if you followed a pattern, and if so, where'd you get it?? It's beautiful! my email address is melissamoss04@gmail.com, if you happen to have a sec. Thanks!
