The List: April Update

So, now that it's May, it means it's time for me to see how I did during the month of April on "The List".  (One of these days I will come up with a better name for it... haha.  Any suggestions?)  I was hoping to make at least 20 blankets for the SPCA, read at least 4 books, write at least 10 letters, continue juicing every day & hit 400 readers on my blog.

Well, one out of 5 isn't bad, is it?!  Haha!  While Keith & I were house-sitting for Tim & De, I managed to make 20 blankets.  20 blankets in 16 days is pretty damn good!  Haha.  And before we started housesitting, I made 8 other blankets.  So this month I made 28 blankets!  New record, ha!    So hopefully that will make up for me slacking in all the other areas...

I only got around to writing 2 letters.  I mean, that's the most that I have done in one month since setting my goal, but I totally didn't hit 10 letters like I was hoping, ha...
Somehow I only got around to reading 3 books.  Well, 3 and a half.   My Mom let me borrow Icy Sparks at the beginning of the month (I didn't have any new books to read.  & I can't re-read a book until I totally forget what happens, ha.  I don't know why.  I'm like that with movies, too.  I can't stand re-watching things!), then I went out and bought Honolulu by Alan Brennert and looooooooved it.  He writes such great books.  Then my Mom let me borrow The Cider House Rules.  And, blah.  It took me aaaaages to get through it. I don't know why, I just couldn't get into it, really.  Well, until the end, ha. Of course!  & the other book I was kind of reading on & off.

Juicing, well, I didn't juice every day.  I could use the excuse that I was house-sitting, but we juiced over there, ha.  And as for 400 readers, I am SO close!  But I can't really control that anyway, haha.

Overall, eh.  When I compare what I actually did to what I was hoping to do , it doesn't seem so great (especially with the books!  Last month I read 8!  This month 3.5?  Whaaaaat?!  haha.).  But I still did quite a bit for the list!  So, I'm happy!  Haha.

In May I'm hoping I can:
  • make 20 blankets
  • read 4 books
  • write 5 letters (I'll aim a bit lower!)
  • juice more!  Not necessarily every day, but every other day-ish?
  • get outside & go on some adventures with Keith!  (We didn't go out to many waterfalls last month!  Or maybe we did & it's blending in with March.  Either way, I wanna see more!  Ha.)
What are you hoping to accomplish this month?  Did you set any goals for last month?

  1. I always say that it doesn't matter if you reach your goal, what is important is that you are working towards a goal each and every day. That is what matters and prevents us from wandering about life. Good luck with your "list" in May!

    1. I totally owe you a letter or 15, ha! I'm going to try to write you one each month, from now on!! & I owe you a package, too! Gah, I am so bad. I have some of the things that I've been meaning to send you beside me right now, ha. You'll get them, I swear! (Come to Canada & you can have them quicker! Haha. Or fly me out to California...?! ha!)

  3. wow, 20 blankets in 16 days is definitely impressive! i'm almost ashamed to admit i worked on one blanket for almost 6 months and i never even finished it! it's ridiculous.

also, 2 letters isn't bad! it's better than 0! that's something i always think i'm going to do more of, but ,like the blanket apparently, i never get around to it!

    1. Ah, thank you! But to be fair they are pretty small, just for dogs & cats! I think if I was making full-sized blankets I wouldn't be able to type, or even move my hands, ha!

Try setting a goal & writing about it on my blog! I find it makes feel like I have to do it, or at least try, since I put it out there! Haha. Good luck!

    1. Haha it's funny, I haven't even STARTED one for this month! I've been more focused on reading when I've got some down time. Every other month is different, one month I read a TON and make a few blankets, the other I hardly read any books & I make a bunch of blankets!

  6. I love your list! I have a kind of similar one, which involves reading more and finally finishing knitting a pair of socks that I have been working on for MONTHS. I also really like your letter writing goal - and I loved the picture of the stamps in the bag that says "canadian stamps worth collecting". So cute! (Do you mind if I pin that to Pinterest?)
Anyhow - great blog, Holly. I just found you through "Oh hello friend, you are loved." Cheers, Helen.

    1. Ooh thank you! The only socks I ever make are super chunky & it takes me a few hours to make, ha! I should really try a pair of socks with sock yarn!

You can definitely pin that photo to Pinterest! Thanks so much for the compliments!
