Last week I started juicing and I'm LOVING it! I went and stocked up on apples, oranges, grapes, pineapple, strawberries & pears. So far I haven't juiced and veggies, but I plan to very soon. I thought it would be fun to document all of the juices that I've made on the blog... and since I love the movie "Adventures in Babysitting"... I figured I would call it "Adventures in Juicing"! Haha. So I'm going to be sharing my recipes and thoughts on things I've juiced, plus some of the benefits that the various fruits & veggies give you. Do any of you guys juice? What are some of your favourite recipes?
This juice was just one pear and a couple handfuls of grapes. Totally simple. And pretty delicious. As you can see it didn't make a whole lot, but it was enough for me. (Also, forgive the bad photos... I made it pretty late at night, haha.)
Pears contain pectin, a soluble fiber, which helps the body to eliminate cholesterol and also protects against environmental toxins. Pear juice has high levels of antioxidants, as well as glutathione, which will help guard against high blood pressure and stroke. They are high in nutrients, containing vitamins A, B1 and 2, C, E, folic acid, niacin, copper, phosphorus and potassium. Along with that, they are a great source of natural energy.
