A Peek at My Week... 23!

Good mail day!  Received some teas to review for my blog (be on the lookout for those!) & a letter from Rachael!

My sister's friend Emily just got back from being in New Zealand for the past six months (and now she's headed up north to Nunavut for the rest of the summer!) and brought me back some 100% New Zealand wool! 

Keith & I went to the Burger Barn.   He got... breakfast?  At the Burger Barn?  Haha.  I got my favourite, the Blazin' Burger (those are dusted jalepenos!  YUM.).  Keith didn't think I could eat the entire thing, so I did. (Second time I've finished it off!  Hahaha.)

De, Julie & I went crystal shopping.  We stopped on the way there & back along the water in Cambridge.

Someone's been eating my basil & it isn't me, ha.  My other basil plant is fine, though!  & look!  Some tomatoes are growing!  I think those are the yellow zebra tomatoes.  Awesome.

This week was okay.  Well, the beginning of it was good.  The past couple of days haven't been so great, but not really for any specific reason, I've just been in a bad mood.   I'm hoping that this weekend will be better.  It's the long weekend in Canada (I guess it's a long weekend in the States, too?  Well you guys get the 4th off.) for Canada Day on Sunday.  De's going to have a booth at the Canada Day festival & will be selling her crystals and stuff, so I'm going to help her out with that.  That should be fun!  We made some earrings once we picked up a bunch of new crystals.  I'll be sure to take lots of photos so you guys can check them out.  I think she may be opening up an Esty store, so that's awesome!

I've been crocheting a lot lately.  I took some photos of a few of the things that I've finished lately,  but I think I'm going to just do a separate post about that.  & see what you guys think I should add to the shop!

I'm going to keep trying to talk Keith into taking me to Toronto Island on Saturday, because the farm where the sheep I fell in love with lives might be closing on June 30th.  I really hope not!  So Saturday would be my last chance to go see that sheep again... ahhh.  It makes me almost tear up thinking that I might not see that sheep again (which isn't weird for me.  Because I tear up when I talk about sheep sometimes.  The majority of the time.  Ha, I'm weird.).

The List (Summer Edition): Make Pizza on the BBQ

I did it! After wanting to try making pizza on the BBQ for years, I finally did it on the weekend.  As you can see, the shape of the pizza was, uh... interesting, ha!   For some reason I have such a hard time rolling dough out.  & then bringing it outside & throwing it down on the BBQ... well, lots of holes were made.  But the main point is how it tasted.  & it was delicious.  SO GOOD.  I think next time I'll be buying pizza dough that is already SHAPED, ha. 

BUT!  It's super easy to BBQ pizza.  Roll the dough out (I used dough from the grocery store.  Sometimes I make my own pizza dough, but not this time.), coat one side in olive oil & set on the hot BBQ.  Once it starts to bubble, coat the top side in olive oil & flip over.  Put your toppings on (pretty quickly!  Be sure to bring a tray out with all of your toppings all ready to throw on) and close the lid.  Once the cheese starts to melt, it's done!  (Well, check the bottom to make sure it looks cooked enough, ha.)  & enjoy.  So good.   I'll definitely be doing this again!

• In Belgium there's a museum entirely dedicated to strawberries

Last Tuesday Keith and I went out to Murphy's Farm in Binbrook to pick strawberries.  One of the items on my list (the summer version) was to pick strawberries.  (And raspberries, cherries, gooseberries, blueberries, pears, etc.  Haha.  I looked up a bunch of local farms where you can pick all of those, so I'm excited to do lots of picking this summer/fall!)  The day we went was suuuuuuuuuuuper hot... so we didn't fill the basket, but managed to get quite a bit!  (We didn't stay long because we wanted to come home and jump in the pool, haha.)  We made some strawberry daiquiris with some of the berries, and I made the strawberry & cream scones that I found on Eryn's blog that she found over on Smitten Kitchen.  They're delicious.  Like, so good that another batch has already been made.  I highly suggest making them if you've got some strawberries.  I'm not really a fan of biscuits (I always find them too dry.) but these are delicious.  It really does taste like strawberry shortcake all in one piece of cake.  Or biscuit.  Whatever.  They're good.  When I go raspberry picking, my friend Bri suggested making some raspberry & white chocolate scones so I'm totally going to try that.  Oh man.

A Peek at My Week... 22!

Saturday night pool party at Kris'!

Sunday I went to Port Dover for Father's Day.  It's weird seeing palm trees in Ontario, ha!

Made some salsa!  With cilantro from the garden.  Yum.

Went strawberry picking with Keith! I'll post more photos soon.

Made strawberry & cream biscuits with the fresh strawberries we picked!  I'll post about that later this week.  Er, next week!

Had girls night with Brooke, Alex & Meaghan!  Until we got rained on (we were sitting outside, ha.  And had plans to swim afterwards!).  This spinach dip was soooo gooooood.

This week seemed to have gone by pretty quickly!  I'm glad Keith & I got a chance to go strawberry picking (even if it felt like 109* with the humid-ex!  We didn't last long, ha!  Came home to go swimming!) and those strawberry biscuits that I made are delicious.  & I don't really like biscuits.  I'll blog about both of those next week.

Girls night was fun, although it got cut a little short!  But we have lots of plans to hang out soon.  Wine & cheese night, book club, girls weekend in Toronto, etc.  It's so much fun hanging out with them, ha!  

I'm not too sure what the plan is for this weekend!  It's supposed to be nice this weekend (well, maybe rain on Sunday), so I imagine I'll be spending lots of time in the pool.  What are your plans for the weekend?
